    Let's see, I see legolas's daggers, anduril, Aragorn's original sword, his lothlorien dagger, boromir's shield, what appears to be boromir's sword, though I can't tell from this angle, a wakasashi, tanto, and katana, and what I believe is an ornamental medieval knight's family shield. That is awesome.

      close, but not that much LOTR stuff......1-its not Aragorns dagger, its an actual gurkha dagger given to my dad. 2-Its not boromirs shield, its actually a battle ready saxon shield 3-its not boromirs sword, thats a medieval re-enactment sword......theres 2 katanas, one of which is 'usable'....i now also have a second medieval broadsword (fully functional of course).........so you got most right......i'd give you a 8/10 :)

        Cool, I didn't actually look at the japanese swords closely, I just figured when you had the 3 stacked like that it was a normal set. Oh well. I should get a picture of all my stuff up there. I have a claymore, a naginata, a katana, wakisashi and tanto, a fantasy katana, and a saber. Not necessarily all great quality though :(

          A naginata? am i right in thinking thats some kind of spear, always wanted a spear of sorts, but i'm now more interested in more european weapons, a good thing now i suppose seeing that here (in the uk) you can no longer legally buy curved blade swords over 50cm, anyway what sort of saber is it you have?
          As for the quality, well not all of mine are the best quality either, but now i have a much deeper knowledge of sword terminology and i now only buy full tang, carbon steel blades, i'm also thinking about getting some armour........cuz i'm that crazy!!!!

            50cm is an incredibly short sword. Your laws are all strict.

            A naginata is a spear, unfortunately we forgot about it and the shaft started splitting because of how dry it is here in new mexico.

            Mine are all horrible quality. I think they are all more or less pakistani blades, plain steel, without a full tang, but they are sharp...

            I'm taking a class either next semester or the one after to make my own armor. I just don't know whether to do chain mail, scale armor, or plate armor.

              WOW.....i wish i could take a class in armour making!!!!! What type? well i suppose it depends on what sort of look/era your going for; chain mail for the poorer soldier or earlier era (pre 14th century), scale for roman\middle eastern, plate for post 14th century/richer soldier. i personally would love to go for both chain and plate and make a suite of armour that combines the protection of the plate (eg breast plate, helmet, bracers) with the maneuverability and slashing protection of chain....but like i said, it depends on what era you are most interested in.

                Yeah, it's actually functional stuff, so it's actual dependent on my choice to be either light or heavy in the school's chapter of the sca. I can take the class as often as I want, so I'd probably start with plate and then do chain, although I think I'd prefer scale.

    Your schools a member of SCA??? Damn.....theres no SCA group or "kingdom" anywhere near me....i had looked at Belegarth too, but again, there is'nt one anywhere near me.
    Well, if i had the option, i would try and learn all of the diffrent types of armour, then maybe choose one which i liked the best to really concentrate on......but DAMN!!! This is why the UK can really suck......i don't get any of these cool classes or clubs, though i might take up archery properly.
